Opportunity 1: JPO Logistics Officer – Dakar, Senegal

This position is based at the Western and Central Africa Regional Office (WACARO) in Dakar, Senegal. The JPO Logistics Officer will support WFP’s regional logistics and supply chain operations. This region faces complex humanitarian challenges and increasing emergency needs. The officer will report to the Regional Head of Logistics. They will help strengthen logistics systems to ensure humanitarian aid reaches millions of people.

Key Responsibilities

The Logistics Officer will be involved in various tasks. These include supporting logistics planning and operational processes, and contributing to logistics projects and supply chain initiatives. The role involves gathering and analyzing logistics data from humanitarian actors. Identifying operational issues and suggesting improvements is also a key part of the job. The officer will support procurement, shipping, customs clearance, and coordinate transport and warehouse contracts. They will also assist country offices during emergencies, develop logistics reports, and support capacity-building for staff and partners. Field missions across the region will also be part of the role.

Expected Learning Outcomes

By the end of this assignment, the JPO is expected to gain advanced knowledge of WFP logistics systems. They will develop expertise in humanitarian supply chain management and strong operational planning skills. Experience supporting emergency responses and regional field operations in Western and Central Africa will be gained. Preferred Experience

Opportunity 2: JPO Programme Policy Officer (Targeting Analyst) – Rome, Italy

This position is located at WFP Headquarters in Rome, Italy, within the Analysis, Performance and Planning Division. The JPO Programme Policy Officer will focus on improving targeting systems. These systems help WFP identify and prioritize populations most in need of assistance. The officer will work with teams at headquarters, regional offices, country offices, and external partners. The goal is to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and improve the effectiveness of humanitarian programs.

Key Responsibilities

The Targeting Analyst will draft policy documents and technical guidance. They will support research and innovation in targeting methodologies. Documenting lessons learned and best practices is also important. The role involves producing learning resources and training materials, and facilitating workshops. Monitoring policy and strategic frameworks, and conducting operational reviews are also key duties. The officer will support the implementation of corporate targeting guidance and provide technical assistance to country offices. Contribution to the Global Assurance Project and supporting benchmark development are also expected.

Successful candidates will develop strong expertise in targeting analysis. They will gain an advanced understanding of humanitarian programming, including food security and nutrition.
